UPDG Team Player - Emily Garner

PICK 9 Interview

Each UPDG Team Player picks 9 questions to answer from a much larger list.

  1. Do you have a favorite holiday? Why or why not?

Christmas! My birthday is exactly 100 days before Christmas, so it makes a countdown extremely convenient.

  2. What was the last thing you read?

    LOTR, on repeat.

  3. What’s your favorite quote from a TV show/movie/book?

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door.  You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no telling where you might be swept off to.” This quote was scrawled in every log book, graffitied on every shelter and picnic table and sign, from Georgia to Virginia on the Appalachian Trail.  Among the thru-hikers, it became a joke and we all hated it… until you look at yourself and realize it basically describes everything about your life.

  4. What was your favorite age growing up?

Like a favorite month?  I like April when I was seven.

  5. What annoys you most?

When people use ’s to make a word plural.

  6. Have you ever had "imposter syndrome"?

Omg yes.  But I’ve learned that you have to own your passion and your accomplishments and take pride in them.  It doesn’t matter whether other people think you do or do not belong.  It only matters whether you’re happy.  And if you’re still not sure, just fake it until you make it.  That’s what everybody else is doing.

  7. What makes you feel at peace?

Disc golf.  Except when I grip lock everything off the tee and miss all my C1 putts.  But it’s still better than just about anything else.

  8. If you have children, how do you want to raise them?

Not to subscribe to someone else’s idea of what he should do or be… and to be a professional disc golfer.  Get ‘em started young, right?

  9. Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert?

    Introvert, to a painful degree.
